FAQs
Do I provide therapy in-person?
I provide therapy online through a HIPPA compliant platform only. I believe that Telehealth has made therapy accessible for many people who could not dream of accommodating therapy in their schedules before. Virtual therapy allows you to be in a comfortable space of your choosing and you do not need to worry about driving time.
What can you expect during the first appointment?
The first appointment is tough, especially if it is your first time doing therapy. The first session is what we call an intake and it is very involved. I will ask questions about the history of the presenting issue bringing you to therapy. I will also ask about your strengths, current challenges, and we will work to elaborate realistic goals for treatment. After the intake is completed, therapy takes the shape that you want it to take.
Do you provide therapy only in English?
I am equally fluent in both English and Spanish and I quite enjoy working with people from different cultural backgrounds. I learned that a lot of us who are bicultural share similar stories of assimilation, acculturation, and familial challenges of adaptation.
What is my therapy style?
I do not believe in one-size-fits all treatment, I pull from different evidence-based treatments to mold to my clients’ personalities and goals for treatment. I use Positive Psychology and Mindfulness as the foundations for my approach, then I build on that foundation with techniques from Attachment therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Emotion -Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Interpersonal Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
How long have I been working as a therapist?
With over a decade of experience in the mental health field, I’ve worked across a variety of settings—from residential treatment and juvenile detention centers to level 5 schools, inpatient care for adolescents and adults, and now in private practice. This diverse background has deepened my understanding of mental health challenges and strengthened my ability to support clients in navigating their unique journeys to healing.
