FAQs
1. What can I expect during our first session?
The initial session is a significant step, particularly if it's your first experience with therapy. During this intake session, we’ll explore the core of what brings you to therapy—delving into the history of your presenting concerns. I’ll also inquire about your strengths, current challenges, and together, we’ll craft meaningful and achievable goals tailored to your unique needs. Once the intake is complete, the direction of our work will evolve to reflect your preferences and aspirations.
2. How long are therapy sessions?
Typically, therapy sessions are 50 minutes long. However, I also offer shorter 45 minute sessions if needed. These can be discussed and arranged to fit your personal needs.
3. Do you accept insurance?
In an effort to make therapy accessible, I have partnered with Aetna, several types BCBS, Carefirst, and Cigna. If you are using your out of network benefits, I can provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement. I also work with easy-to-use apps that simplify the process of submitting claims, making therapy more accessible and affordable. I’m happy to discuss these options further if you’re interested.
4. What are your fees?
My fees are comparable with other therapy practices, reflecting the depth and quality of care you will receive. The exact fee structure will depend on the type and frequency of the services you require. I believe in transparency, navigate to the investment tab for a detailed view of my fees.
5. How long will therapy take?
The length of therapy depends on your unique needs, goals, and the nature of your challenges. Some individuals find significant relief in just a few sessions, while others may require longer-term work. Together, we will regularly assess progress and adjust the course of therapy to ensure we’re always aligned with your goals.
6. Is therapy confidential?
Yes, confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy. Everything we discuss in our sessions is kept private, with a few exceptions outlined by law (e.g., risk of harm to yourself or others). You can feel secure knowing that your personal information and the details of our work together are protected.
7. What if I need to cancel or reschedule a session?
I understand that life happens. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 48 hours' notice. Cancellations within 48 hours will incur a fee, as I reserve that time exclusively for you.
8. Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes, I offer virtual therapy sessions via secure and confidential video platforms. These sessions are just as effective as in-person meetings and provide flexibility for those with busy schedules or those who may not be able to attend in person.
9. How do I know if therapy is right for me?
If you’re feeling uncertain, the first session is a great way to explore if therapy is a good fit. Many people seek therapy to navigate difficult life transitions, improve emotional well-being, or address specific challenges. If you feel that your concerns could benefit from deeper exploration or professional guidance, therapy can be an excellent option.
10. Do you work with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds?
Absolutely. I’m fluent in both English and Spanish, and I’m passionate about working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. I understand that many who are bicultural face unique challenges, and I bring a deep appreciation and respect for these experiences into our work together.
11. How do I get started?

I’ll guide you through every step of the process to ensure that your experience is as smooth and welcoming as possible.
